Frank
Zafiro
RUNNING
TO DARKNESS
Frank served in
U.S. Army Intelligence as a Czech linguist during the waning moments
of the Cold War. From
Augsburg,
Germany, he watched the
Berlin Wall tumble and the Velvet Revolution take place in
then-Czechoslovakia. It
was a fine time for freedom.
He became a
police officer in 1993.
During his career, he has served as a patrol officer, a field
training officer, a corporal, a detective (his favorite job) and a
sergeant. He has taught
courses in Report Writing and Sexual Assault Investigation at the
Basic
Law
Enforcement
Academy for the past
several years. He also
writes courseware for criminal justice courses. Because of his active status
within the field of law enforcement, he writes under a
pseudonym.
Most of Frank’s
stories take place in the fictional setting of
River
City, a mid-sized
city in Eastern
Washington, with recurring
characters (including the story in The EX-Factor). His first
River
City novel, Under A Raging Moon, was
published in 2006 by Wolfmont Press. Dozens of his short stories
have been published in print and online magazines, as well as
several anthologies.
Besides
writing, Frank enjoys good movies, his three children (a boy, a girl
and a boy) and hockey—something he both watches and plays. Because he is a goaltender,
many people have rightfully questioned his sanity. The answer to that
particular query is clinched as soon as they discover he is also a
writer. You can keep up
with his work and his blog at: http://frankzafiro.com
