Tim Wohlforth                                                     KILLER FOG

               

Tim Wohlforth’s story “Jesus Christ Is Dead!” made the “Distinguished Mystery Stories” list in Otto Penzler’s 2005 Best American Mystery Stories. A story of his is included in the Mystery Writers of America’s Death Do Us Part, edited by Harlan Coben.

 

He is a 2003 Pushcart Prize Nominee. He has received a Certificate of Excellence from the Dana Literary Society. Wohlforth has had seventy-two short stories accepted for publication. A contemporary noir novel, No Time To Mourn, was recently published. He co-authored the non-fiction book, On The Edge: Political Cults Right and Left.

 

K. M. Kavanagh                                                    TRIAL AND TERROR

 

 K.M. Kavanagh served as Co-president for the Central Coast chapter of Sisters in Crime for two terms.  Her award-winning stories have been published in small press periodicals.  One readers’ favorite landed in …And Some of Them are Dead, a mystery anthology published by Deadly Alibi Press; another appeared in Gone Coastal, a mystery anthology published by Seven Sisters Publishing in 2006. 

 

Kavanagh’s debut novel, Rock of Morro Bay, will be published by Seven Sisters in early 2007.  Ms. Kavanagh lives with her beloved husband in Irvine, where they share the same dream to move to their Central Coast home together.

 

 

Kathleen Delaney                                                THE TRIP

 

Kathleen Delaney has recently retired from a thirty year career as a real estate broker. About ten years ago, after a lifetime as a dedicated reader of everything she could get her hands on, she decided to honor a long held secret desire and try to write herself.

 

 Her first published article was in Family Fun, a humor piece about her children’s escapades in 4H. Other articles and short stories followed and, as she learned her craft, her first novel, Dying For A Change, was published, followed by Give First Place To Murder. She has just signed a contract with Poisoned Pen Press for a third, And Murder For Dessert. Kathleen is the mother of five grown children, and grandmother to eight, none of whom live with her. She has two dogs, who do.

 

Sunny Frazier                                                      DITCHED

 

Sunny Frazier has been publishing both fiction and nonfiction since 1972. She is a Navy veteran and wrote for military publications, a local newspaper in Fresno before becoming a secretary with an undercover narcotics unit for 17 years where she published articles in The California Narcotics Officers Association Magazine.

 

Her short mystery fiction has won numerous awards and publication in Murderous Intent Mystery Magazine; Blue Murder Magazine; Writer’s Journal; The Line-Up (Fresno County Sheriff’s Department Magazine; NEWN; and Crime and Suspense Ezine.

 

Her stories can also be found in three anthologies: Valley Fever: Where Murder Is Contagious (Fithian Press, 2003); Seven By Seven: The Seven Deadly Sins Anthology (Wolfmont Press, 2006); Gone Coastal (Seven Sisters Press, 2006). Her first novel, Fools Rush In: A Christy Bristol Astrology Mystery was published in the fall, 2006, by Wolfmont Press.

 

Frazier is co-editor of Crime and Suspense ezine, co-moderator of the Crime and Suspense Yahoo group, acquisitions editor of Wolfmont Press, and a member of both the San Joaquin Chapter and Central Coast Chapter of Sisters in Crime.

 

Victoria Heckman                                               JOSIE'S CABIN

 

Victoria Heckman was born and raised in San Diego, California.  Through sheer luck and understanding parents, she went to the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu, fell in love with Hawaii and stayed for thirteen years.  She has a BA in theatre, specializing in children's theatre.

 

She has been involved in most aspects of performing from directing, acting, and choreography, to costuming and special effects make up.  She also has experience in theatre, film, television, radio, video and print modeling.

 

Ms. Heckman currently teaches and directs theatre in middle school and high school.  She has published numerous short stories and articles in, magazines and newsletters, her work appearing in FUTURES, San Luis Magazine, and Short Story among others. Anthologies include More Slo Death,…And Some of Them Are Dead, Gone Coastal and Never Safe.

 

She is a member of Sisters in Crime and is past president of the Central Coast Chapter.  Her first mystery novel, K.O.'d in Honolulu, is in its second printing from Seven Sisters Publishing.  K.O.’d in the Volcano, 2003 and K.O.’d in the Rift, 2005 are from Pemberley Press.  All are set in Hawaii and feature officer Katrina Ogden, K.O., of the Honolulu Police Department.  Heckman is currently working on a new series, Kapu, A Coconut Man mystery of Ancient Hawai’i.

 

Simon Wood                                                         CRESTFALLEN'S KINK

 

Simon Wood is a California transplant from England.  In the last six years, he's had over 130 stories and articles published.  A number of his stories have appeared in "Best of" anthologies and his non-fiction has appeared in Writer's Digest.

Margaret Searles                                                GAME OVER

 

Margaret Searles lives, writes, and edits on the north coast of California.  Her sleuths, Mrs. Millet & Mrs. Hark, have appeared in magazines and anthologies, and their first novel, Terlingua Ale, was published by Deadly Alibi Press in 2004.  Wrinklers Press published their second novel, Devonshire Cream in 2005 and their third novel, Filet Mignon in early 2006.  Their fourth novel, Briny Chowder, hit the bookstores in October 2006.

 

Gay Toltl Kinman                                                BODY AND BLOOD

 

Gay Toltl Kinman has eight award nominations for her writing; several short stories published in American and English magazines; over one hundred and fifty articles; six children's books; and had four plays produced.  Her young adult gothic novel, Wolf Castle,  and two adult mysteries Death in Covent Garden, and Death in a Small Town were just released by Hilliard and Harris.

 

She co-edited a cookbook, and a book promotion publication for Sisters in Crime, and was on the Board of SINC / LA.  She coordinates workshops for writers at California State University, San Bernardino; and is a scholar for the Library of Congress/UCLA "Women of Mystery" discussion groups.  Kinman has a library degree and a law degree.

 

Frank Zafiro                                                        RUNNING TO DARKNESS

 

Frank served in U.S. Army Intelligence as a Czech linguist during the waning moments of the Cold War.  From Augsburg, Germany, he watched the Berlin Wall tumble and the Velvet Revolution take place in then-Czechoslovakia.  It was a fine time for freedom.

 

He became a police officer in 1993.  During his career, he has served as a patrol officer, a field training officer, a corporal, a detective (his favorite job) and a sergeant.  He has taught courses in Report Writing and Sexual Assault Investigation at the Basic Law Enforcement Academy for the past several years.  He also writes courseware for criminal justice courses.  Because of his active status within the field of law enforcement, he writes under a pseudonym.

 

Most of Frank’s stories take place in the fictional setting of River City, a mid-sized city in Eastern Washington, with recurring characters (including the story in The EX-Factor).  His first River City novel, Under A Raging Moon, was published in 2006 by Wolfmont Press.  Dozens of his short stories have been published in print and online magazines, as well as several anthologies.

Kris Neri                                                              CAPITAL JUSTICE

 

Kris Neri’s latest publication, Never Say Die, features triathlete Zoey Morgan, a character from some of her short stories.  She is also the author of the Agatha, Anthony and Macavity Award-nominated Tracy Eaton mysteries, Revenge of the Gypsy Queen and Dem Bones’ Revenge.

Gary R. Hoffman                                                 BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE

 

Gary R. Hoffman taught English and Speech/Drama for 22 years in Missouri and California.  He quit teaching over 20 years ago to go into business for himself.  He now lives in a motor home and says, “Home is where you park it!”  He now travels the North American Continent, with Sandy and their cat, Callie, and attempts to stay in moderate climates.

               

He has had many short stories published in anthologies, ezines, and magazines.  He has also won many awards for his short stories.

 

Tony Burton                                                         SNOW ANGEL

 

Tony Burton is an author and the owner of Wolfmont Publishing and Honey Locust Press.  He has been writing poetry, non-fiction and fiction for over twelve years.  Tony and his wife Lara live in the mountains of NW Georgia with their champion napdog, Buddy.

 

Tony has edited an anthology of his own: Seven By Seven, forty-nine flash fiction pieces by seven authors, all focused on the Seven Deadly Sins.  It is available directly from Wolfmont Publishing or through your local bookstore. Bill Monson                                                          11-46 AT THE PIER

 

Bill Monson was Professor of Mass Communications and Journalism at CSU Fresno for 31 years.  He led a second career as a writer, director and performer.  He published a novel, wrote several prize-winning plays, some historical pageants, librettos for short operas, two radio nostalgia series for Fresno’s public radio station, two TV programs for PBS satellite syndication and a weekly newspaper column.

Monson also hosted a Sunday night radio talk show for 15 years.  He acted and directed in local theatre productions and became involved with several writers’ organizations.

 

Gary Philips                                                         HOUSE OF TEARS

 

Gary Phillips considers himself a practitioner of various storytelling mediums.  With co-editor Chris Chambers, they’re bringing out the Darker Mask, an anthology of edgy, topical prose super-hero stories, and is solo editing Politics Noir, a collection that will feature tawdry tales set in that most vicious of arenas.  And he’s writing two graphic novels, one a crime story, and the other, a coming-of-age journey set in his old neighborhood of South Central L.A. entitled Los Trez.

 

Jane Denison                                                       THE SCOOP

 

Formerly a long-time Human Resource professional in the public education system, Mary J. Moses now centers her attention on writing. She has nine books in print, with more “in the works.”

Her most extensive non-fiction work was in co-authoring two books with Judi Martindale, San Luis Obispo financial planner. The first, No More Baglady Fears, won a silver medal in a national competition. They followed that book with 52 Simple Ways to Manage Your Money.

Under the pen-name of Jane Denison, she published the novels, Stella's Search, Ship of Secrets and Other Stories, The Mill and her newest, The Family.

 

Recently, Ms. Moses self-published interviews of people who lived in Morro Bay in the middle of the last century, Morro Bay Remembered, Volumes 1 and II.

Originally from Southern California, Mary J. Moses has lived in San Luis Obispo County for fifty years; currently she resides in Paso Robles.  She is active in Quota International, having served at the International Board level.  She has been an officer in the American Association of University Women for several years and she is active in organizations for writers and published authors.

Marilyn Meredith                                    THE RESURRECTION

 

Marilyn Meredith is the author of award winning Deputy Tempe Crabtree mystery series, the latest, Calling the Dead, from Mundania Press.  She’s also written Wishing Makes It So, a psychological thriller, which was awarded “Best Thriller for ‘06” by the American Author Association, as well as other mysteries and Christian horror.

 

She is a member of Sisters in Crime, Mystery Writers of America, EPIC and Public Safety Writers of America.  She was an instructor for Writer’s Digest School for ten years, served as instructor at the Maui Writer’s Retreat and many other writer’s conferences.  She makes her home in a small foothill community much like Bear Creek where Deputy Tempe Crabtree lives.

James M. Murphy                                               MEAN STREET

 

James M. Murphy, a competition shooter, aircraft mechanic, physicist, engineer, manager and a lover of all things technical, is the author of the Gary Charboneau mystery series and a humorous novel, Bimbo Sluts From Hell. 

 

James was raised in San Diego and obtained a BS degree in Physics from San Diego State. He joined IBM and moved to their plant in San Jose, leaving after 24 years to write full time.  He lives now with his wife, Joan O’Reilly, in Green Valley, Arizona.  His third PI Gary Charboneau novel, Set-up was published in October 2006.

Sue McGinty                                                        DARK BENEDICTION

 

Sue McGinty is a Los Osos author with a passion for both contemporary and historical mysteries.  Dogs play a significant role in many of her stories.  Sam, the Labrador retriever in “Dark Benediction,” is a real “person,” although Sue changed him from golden to brunette for purposes of the story.

 

Sue’s nonfiction has appeared in the San Bernardino Sun, New Times, the San Luis Obispo Tribune, SLO Journal, and Plus Magazine.   Her short stories have been published in two previous Central Coast Mystery Writers’ anthologies,… And Some Of Them Are Dead and More SLO Death.  She is also the author of a how-to computer book for John Wiley and Sons, and fifty computer training courses for McGraw-Hill and Learning Tree International, Los Angeles.
